national park sports - part of Söderåsen
There are currently 30 national parks in Sweden and Skäralid is the gateway to one of them - Söderåsen National Park. Skäralid is by far the most well-known gateway to Söderåsen. Here you are met by beech forest-clad cliffs, dramatic valleys and flowing streams. The nature is magnificent and the national park has several miles of hiking trails, but also shelters and rest areas. One of the best viewpoints in the area is at Kopparhatten, with a mile-wide view of the valley below.
The national park is well worth a visit all year round, each season has its charm. In spring, the beech forest bursts out in lime green, in summer the coolness is nice in the valleys, autumn offers glowing deciduous forest in warm autumn colors and in winter the dramatic landscape with its steep cliffs appears at its best. The Skärdammen pond adds a beautiful touch to the site, and right next door, Prince Oscar's Nature Play invites you to active adventures. Parking is available close to the gate and the bus stops nearby. The National Park Gate offers memorable experiences for the whole family.
Please note that the right of public access is restricted in the national park and nature reserves and special rules apply. Read more here.
At the naturum you can learn more about the special nature of the area, get tips on hikes and attractions or join a guided tour.
Hjortsprånget dates back to the Stone Age and is a special viewpoint in Söderåsen National Park.
A lovely nature playground, built in and by nature, makes it popular with families with children.
