High mountains and deep valleys – welcome to the deciduous forest halls

Söderåsen offers fantastic nature experiences all year round

Söderåsen offers fantastic nature experiences all year round. Now that spring is here, we are looking forward to a wonderful summer with many visitors eager to enjoy the beauty and freedom of nature. To make your visit as pleasant as possible, we would like to offer some tips on how you can maximize your own experience and that of others. After all, nature is a treasure we all share.
The best thing about a walk in the woods is the snack break. Right? Around Söderåsen, there are wonderful glades and viewpoints where you can sit down to listen to the sounds of the forest and eat something tasty, but remember to leave only your footprints behind—bags, paper, and food scraps are not part of nature. Bring a trash bag and minimize your waste by packing smart: Avoid unnecessary packaging and disposable products. If you're going to cook in nature, feel free to use the area's nice barbecue sites instead of disposable grills, which are a fire hazard.

Thank you, Right of Public Access

All land in Sweden is owned by someone. When you walk, cycle, pick mushrooms and berries, or just sit on a tree stump and philosophize, you are exercising your right of public access. It originated in the 1940s, but the roots of this freedom can be found in medieval Sweden, when everyone was allowed to use nature for their own purposes. Today, the Right of Public Access is a statutory right that gives you the freedom to stay on private land in nature, but remember that you are a guest in the world of animals and plants. not to disturb or destroy is the key.Read more about the Right of Public Access here.

Different rules for national parks, nature reserves, and recreational areas

The right of public access is applied differently depending on the natural conditions. Large parts of Söderåsen are nature reserves or nature reserves that exist to preserve and protect specific values. Always read the information boards at the entrances, as the rules may differ between locations. Here you can read about how the right of public access is applied.

Dogs also love nature

Dogs love the smells of the forest and long walks, but we must remember that wild animals can be frightened by dogs running loose. Dogs must always be kept on a leash in national parks and nature reserves, and in other areas they must be kept on a leash between March 1 and August 20. Also, keep in mind that other visitors may not appreciate close contact with dogs. Please pick up after your dog or bury its waste.
